Lake Jesup Restoration Project

On Saturday April 14th, 2012 the Black Hammock was proud to be a part of the Lake Jesup restoration project!  Many daring volunteers helped Seminole County by planting native vegetation such as eel grass that would be beneficial to the environment and also by removing harmful invasive plants.  Lake Jesup is known for harboring  the densest alligator population in Florida!  The volunteers were kept safe as they did their work.

Our Airboat captains volunteered their services and met with approximately 200 volunteers at Sanford Avenue Boat Ramp.  They then transported the volunteers via airboat to the Lake Jesup restoration site and back.  The Black Hammock is very thankful to the Lake Jesup Restoration volunteers as well as our wonderful Airboat Captains for dedicating their time and energy to such a fantastic project!

We were sent this delightful thank you from the Seminole Education, Restoration & Volunteer (SERV) Program:
