AECom Lake Jesup Cleanup Project
in 2021 Black Hammock was honored to be a part of the Lake Jesup algae cleanup project run by AECOM. They spent the second half of the year filtering toxic algae out of the water which they are able to use for a variety of other things including biofuel, and even shoes! In December we hosted the news conference and airboat tours to the barge where the AECOM team gave tours and demonstrations of all they’ve been working on in 2021. 10th Annual Kids House Gala
The Black Hammock was at the 10th Annual Kids House Gala to support the fight against child abuse. This year we dressed to the nines for the showtime in Vegas theme. We shared dinner, drinks, dancing, and incredible live music with friends from all around the community that gathered to support this great cause. We took part in live and silent auctions all night and all the proceeds went directly to Kids House to help raise awareness and to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, nurturing environment, free from abuse and neglect.

A Thank You Letter From Seminole Education, Restoration Volunteer SERV)Program
“We greatly appreciated the help of the 47 UCF volunteers who joined us at Lake Jesup today for Pegasus Palooza! Together we planted 2,080 native plants (1000 duck potato, 1000 pickerelweed, 30 fire flag, 50 golden canna); these beneficial shoreline plants will help to improve water quality in this nutrient impaired lake! Great job, everyone and thank you from Joel Martin, Owner and the entire team at Black Hammock Adventures. Way to pay it forward and keep our shoreline beautiful!”

A Thank You Letter from Seminole County Watershed Management
“Seminole County Watershed Management would like to thank Black Hammock Adventures for the continued support. Education, restoration and continued community support is how we are going to make a difference in restoring Lake Jesup.”
“We would not be able to accomplish our huge volunteer projects on Lake Jesup without the use of your airboats and captains. Twice a year, we have between 100-150 volunteers participate at our Lake Jesup Restoration project. When we call you for help, you guys never say no, just “what can we do to participate?” Your willingness to always go the extra mile, contributing free of charge your airboat services to all our volunteers is just remarkable! You make everyone involved with this event feel welcome and appreciated and we thank you and your staff! We are looking forward to our next Lake Jesup Restoration Project.”
“Education is a key role for citizens to understand the challenges we are facing with Lake Jesup and what we are doing to help improve this lake.”
